Well…. last night the Oilers lost. I’m sad for them, but I understand why…. they just couldn’t get a goal in the net despite several power plays (one was a 3 on 5!) I have to give props to the Hurricane goalie Cam Ward who had some amazing saves of sure fire shots from my boys, he definately was one of the best contenders for the Conn Smythe Trophy (given to the most valuable player in the playoffs). I still have to say that I HATE Rod Brind’Amour. He’s an ogre with a peanut sized brain who doesn’t deserve the Stanley Cup. There hasn’t been time on or off the ice to dictate otherwise, he is the captain of the Hurricanes and the first to hoist the trophy…. I couldn’t watch that for fear of vomiting…. I really can’t stand him and how he plays, hassles the refs and speaks to the press. Awful.
The final score of the game was 3-1, (really only 2 goals on the Carolina side, they were able to slap a shot in the empty Oilers net in the last minute of the game because the team had pulled Markkanen to put 6 skaters on the ice to try to tie the game). I was impressed with how my dear Chris Pronger played, considering he’s 32 and has played in the NHL for 12 years, he’s still one of the best defensemen in the league and can kick ass after playing more than half the game (which is amazing!). I am so in love!
Everyone should be impressed with hockey players and their love for the sport. Despite all the hard hits and tension between teams, they all appreciate the talent on the ice.
Here the team sits waiting for Carolina to celebrate so they can shake hands and talk with the team before heading to the locker room. I couldn’t say that I wouldn’t want to go to the locker room and break something versus sitting there watching the winning team hoot and holler around!
