– Rant away

I have to share one of the most delicious blogs I’ve stumbled across in a while… sadly, when I started reading Waiter Rant most of his posts were not on the subject of being a waiter as Steve was on the doorstep of releasing a book based on his work… I was late to the party! Ugh.
He had written for a few years about life as an anonymous waiter in the great NYC and gave light to what it’s like to be on the other side of the tray. As Anthony Bourdain said, it’s the Kitchen Confidential for the front of the house.
Although he’s not waiting tables any longer, I still read his posts about book tours and life once his once anonymous writing became public. I’m also excited to hear tidbits about the next book he’s writing, a commentary on the tipping culture, waiters included, but also for all service jobs that involve tipping of some sort.
My dear friend Kellie bought me his book Waiter Rant for my birthday back in April, and sadly I had not cracked the cover until now (you know, grad school and a year’s worth of collected titles tends to back up the to-read list).
The book is fantastic. I read half of it in one night. I would be finished with it, if it wasn’t for the fact I know I won’t be able to put it down once I start, and I’m not willing to be a sleep deprived zombie this week, so I must wait til the weekend rolls around to finish it.
I highly recommend you add his feed to your RSS, go out to the store and buy the title (buy it in hardcover peeps, don’t be cheap and get the paperback – you’re supporting a blogger!) and make sure to pre-order his next book when it’s available… you’ll be so glad you did.
(oh, and buy it from B&N – I love to support my former employer, also keeps my friends in the company gainfully employed)
