– Honesty
A response from Sarah over at The Delicious Life to a comment I made was the straw that broke the camel’s back on something I’ve been rolling over in my mind…
Honesty in blogging.
I’ve been rather upfront in my opinion (and please forgive me, for it is my own and no one else’s!) but have always felt the need to keep my readers on a short leash. For those who have known me, for better or worse, for a long time know my story and know my past… but for new readers my past is short.
You see I’ve kept a habit of removing old posts from my blog because I often look back in retrospect and not recognize myself in what I said or did. But that’s exactly what this blog is, a chronicling of me over time, a very long time at that! So I’ve decided to let loose, kick up my heels, and acknowledge that I am not the same young girl in college nor the woman I was just last week.. so opens the floodgate= the archives are opened, aired out and up for grabs.
Now I seriously do not expect anyone to seek out learning more about me by reading through old, misguided posts, but I’m happy to think that despite the change in my life, outlook, and personality I no longer have to be ashamed as to where I’ve come from as a writer (yes a WRITER! *more on that later*) blogger, woman & adventurer!
*A little note: I’ve gone back as far as I have the energy to go… this is a compilation of my posts from myspace, blogger, wordpress.com and now brings us to speed with thegirlblogger.com. Anything older (heck somewhere on a computer I’m sure I have posts from 2000!) I will have to dig out of archived file hell and let’s just leave my high school and early collegiate journaling in the past… where it belongs :)
