A redeeming fact: I’d sneak Tango In The Night into the the CD player, plug in my dad’s BOSE headphones, crank the volume and lay in the teensy space behind the couch and the bookshelf where the A/V equipment was and essentially go missing from my parents for a couple hours.

I’m not much of a movie goer and since I skipped this years ComicCon I completely missed the buzz for Scott Pilgrim. Just by chance I went to see it last weekend in Toronto and was blown away at how awesome it was.

Based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley, this film adaptation is a glorious mix of real life and 8-bit video game imagery. A few extra points need to be awarded…

It’s based in Toronto +1
Quirky, funny characters (going to be a cult favorite) +1
Features a kick ass soundtrack +1

It was awesome to see the movie in a packed theater full of hip Torontoans who cheered throughout the film, especially during the opening sequence when it states it’s set in Toronto, as well as full on applause at the end… such a great interactive experience!

This is one of those songs that I’d put on the soundtrack of my childhood.

Reminds me of summers spent in the pool, nary a break to eat or pee, a dark tan, my hair green from the chlorine, my eyes bloodshot from diving under the water with my feet tied together while pretending to be a mermaid.

Stevie Ray played on the outdoor speakers so my dad who would be putzing around in the yard could have something to listen to besides me splashing around…
